House Gryffindor was one of the four Houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was founded by Godric Gryffindor. The most valued characteristics in House Gryffindor are courage, bravery, determination, nerve, daring, and chivalry, that’s why Godric Gryffindor has instructed the Sorting Hat to choose students with those traits for his house. The House Gryffindor emblematic animal is a lion, and the house colors are scarlet red and gold. Even the house hourglass is filled with rubies, and Gryffindor has a house ghost Nearly Headless Nick, or Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington. As in all Hogwarts houses, they hang their Christmas sock.
