Gear Second or Gear 2 is a transformation technique of Gomu Gomu no Mi that enhances the user's speed and mobility in the anime series One Piece. Luffy used it in his fight against Blueno. Using this Monkey D Luffy speeds up his blood flow in order to provide his body with more oxygen and nutrients, and this makes him much faster and more powerful. But it also makes Luffy hungrier than usual and can cause paralysis effect if used for long periods of time. In Luffy's case, his organs and blood vessels are made of rubber and use of the Gear Second allows him to expand them and contract at greater rates without damaging them.
