As a real-world parrot, Minecraft's parrots can imitate the sounds of the nearby mobs, hostile ones, and can perch on the shoulder of a player. The Parrot mob in Minecraft is passive, but if struck or frightened they can fly away swiftly. Like chickens, they flap their wings and can also dance if they are near a jukebox with music playing.
