Slytherin is one of the four houses of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that was founded by pure-blood wizard Salazar Slytherin known for his cunning and determination. When establishing the House Slytherin Salazar instructed the Sorting Hat to pick students for his house that poses such traits as determination, pride, cunning, ambition, resourcefulness, and self-preservation. House Slytherin highly values and favored pure-blood students, however, students of any blood status could be placed in the house, but muggle-born students are rare.
