The Sorting Hat is a sentient magical hat at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that determines which of the four schools' Houses new students should belong to. Those four Hogwarts houses are Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. The Sorting Hat itself originally belonged to a founder of one of the Hogwarts and one of the Houses, a master of magical arts Godric Gryffindor. Godric Gryffindor has carefully selected members of his own House, praising courage, determination, and strength of heart in students above all other qualities.
